Malcom X

This piece was created for a special exhibit celebrating Black History Month. I choose an iconic photograph of Malcolm X delivering a speech as the basis for the piece. To add further context to the time period of the speech, I added the reflection of a burning cross and Klu Klux Klan members in his glasses. I felt the high contrast of the scratchboard medium added a strong visual appearance to the piece and that the black and white media gave a subtle undertone of the ethnic issues that plagued the era.
