Chief Ano-Tlosh - 20" x 30" Colored Pencil on Black Board
This piece was inspired by a 1906 photograph of Ano-Tlosh, head chief of the Taku tribe in Nushagak, Alaska. The work was done primarily in white colored pencil to emphasize the intricate work of his Chilkat blanket and headdress and accented by a small swatch of red. This portrait is part of a series inspired by Native Alaskan culture at the turn of the 20th century.
