Wedding Invitation

After Washington DC passed a law legalizing same-sex marriage in 2010, I was asked to create a playful wedding invitation utilizing experimental typography in a modern style. The wedding took place on Kentucky Derby Day. Since the wedding reception theme was the Derby, the grooms asked that the invitation reflect the theme. The invitation tells the story of a long romance, many hardships, and ultimate triumph while never losing its sense of humor. I was intrigued by the challenge of documenting a romance using only typography and ink color.
